Born as the youngest of the family Vanderschueren, he spend most of his childhood together with his sis Birgit, his mum Lut and his dad Frans in Schepdaal at 10km from Brussels. At the age of five he marries the first time during a school break : Being a bit sick he and some other kids stayed inside instead of leaving for the playground. They decided to play marriage and being the only male person present he marries (and kisses) his childhood sweetheart whom he remains faithful to until he’s 12 years old.

At that age he went to the next village, Lennik to go to the ‘bigschool’. Being a very intelligent, yet dominating child during his first school period, he starts losing the higher marks at school. Lessons mostly seem dull and learning takes too much time. He rather does gymnastics, judo, breakdance or help out at the local theatrecompany, founded by both his parents, where he was a part of since he was about 3 years old. Being the eighties he wears as much black as possible and tries to be as cool as he gets, driven by his passion for girls, music, girls, poetry and… girls. Big-time-love-crushes seem to be the most important thingsin life at that point. This reflect in an assembly of wordsand self pittying poetry and in a demoMC about his one and only, ever-to-be-lasting love. It is during these days he gets to know the meaning of friendship. There are plenty of mates to go and have a beer with or to go out with.

Being 18 and ‘free’ of school, he goes to the Brussels University to study informatics, this as a way of getting as rich as soon as possible. The big city changed and opened his mind.Not seeing too much of the inside of the classrooms, he spend most of his time with some friends smoking weed, philosofating and exploring the outer limits of ones fantasy, reality, off borders, big light, spacy ideas, world renovating things,… So time to change direction : 3 years of hard working–fun making filmschool. Passed the first year he makes a trip to Scotland with 3 friends, where he loses his heart to the impessing, open, magnifiscent scenaries of the land. Forever changed he starts doing more trips, this time on his own and armed with a backpack and tent. How amazing the grace can be for the earth we are living on. During his last year at the filmschool, he gets to know a young dancer,Elly who opens up a total new world : the body.

Having neglated his own body during the mind process of movies, his weight is but 62 kilos and his strength as poor as can be. So soon he started working in gardens and get physical. When he leaves home and moves to Antwerp he starts with daily classes in physical theatre, while working in a car wash. More and more he earns his living by making movies, consulting theatre companies for Opendoek and giving lessons in mime. Inspired by Ellies ‘young’ way of living, he even starts as a monitor on languages camps at Flipper. When somebody falls ill at the dancecompany where Elly is dancing, Sigurd jumps in and plays the part of Nemo for a whole week in the big theatre in Bruges. In septembre 2003 Elly and Sigurd start living together in Antwerp. They fill up their days with working on images, sounds and body. Lately the started kung fu training at the Wutang school.
